Programs & Services

The Brain Injury Association of New Jersey is the only statewide organization in New Jersey dedicated to serving all persons affected by brain injury—those with brain injuries, family members, friends, professionals, and the general public.

Our Services for People with Brain Injury and Their Families provide direct assistance and include Information and Resources such as our Family Helpline, Publications, and Browse-and-Borrow Library, Brain Injury Basics sessions, Support Groups, Family Support, Mentor Program, and summer residential camp program TREK.

The Association also conducts a variety of Educational Sessions. Among these are our Annual Seminar, Regional Seminars for Health and Human Service workers, and sessions for Parents & School Professionals.

Our Outreach Efforts include the Vocational Project, Exhibits and Community Events, and other programs aimed to spread the mission and vision of our association.

Prevention Programs focus specifically on preventable traumatic brain injuries, targeting segments of the general public with information on the causes of brain injury that could affect them. Some of the Association’s prevention campaigns are U Got Brains, Concussion in Sports, and Heads Up! Seniors.

The Association’s commitment to Advocacy keeps us active in public policy at the state and national level, on topics related to preventing brain injuries and obtaining services for those already affected by brain injury. We promote self advocacy through our committee, Council for the Head Injured Community, and also maintain an active Legislative Network to encourage advocacy on the behalf all affected by brain injury.

All the while, Raising Public Awareness remains paramount to all the Association’s programs. As New Jerseyans better understand brain injury and its consequences, they become better equipped to prevent TBI and address the needs of people with brain injuries in their communities. Association programs that focus on public awareness include Walk For Thought / Cycle For Safety and Brain Injury Awareness Month.
